we didn't modularize the plugins' configuration, because we had no idea
how to do it elegantly.

i suppose you might get it to work this way:
- cd qtbase
- qmake -- <your relevant configure options go here>
- cd src/sql
- qmake
- cd ../plugins/sqldrivers
- qmake
- make
