[Interest] what are the requirements for QMetaType::metaObjectForType(QMetaType::type("QQuickLayout*")) to work?

Not a possibility. A hard dependency on an abandoned behaviour in older qml
that no one wants to tackle yet. So will have to do with a workaround I
guess
