Hello Lina,
PySide2 and Shiboken2 are indeed very old,
and we encourage PySide users to move to PySide6 that has been out
for quite some time now (currently we are in 6.9.x).
None of the people currently working in PySide
is related to the spack community, nor their packaging,
so personally I have no idea how it works,
who is behind the packages for pyside1 and pyside2.
You might have better luck, by opening an Issue on the Spack
Github repository, so they can address that.
We are happy to provide insights in case the package
cannot be built easily, but outside that, we cannot do much.
Cheers!
