Well I think that remembering the device is how it is supposed to be:
having an iPad and an iPhone it is not clear that switching depending on the connect/disconnect sequence of the devices is better, especially if one (for example) has an iPad only app.
Creator tell you as hint on the run button that you might want to switch, and just above the run button(in the kit/target selector) you can change the device.
So I find it better than the alternative.
