The files can be autodetected from the system (Linux), some of them are shipped with Qt Creator (share/qtcreator/generic-highlighter), and you can install them specifically for Qt Creator per user in Options > Text Editor > Generic Highlighter.

   I should have stated I was on OS X. I did find the highlighter file though in the Creator.app bundle. I'll edit it there.
