Did you already have a look at the upcoming DeclarativeUI? This might be 
an eye opener for you when it comes to customizable & slick UIs with Qt 
(that is again, if it fits your use case):

In general I agree with Martin: It all comes down to what application 
you want to develop, what skills you have and what the environment will be.
