[Qt-interest] video codecs

hi all,i'm a newbie in qt. i want to learn something which is important for
me. i want to develop an application which needs to open and process video
files. also i need to use every codec installed on computer. i read that
phonon is useful for this purpose. can someone give me much more information
about the ability of phonon. can i open and process all video files, if i
install necessary codec for that files.
