[Qt-interest] qt.gitorious.org and official releases

Hopefully, this is the right mailing list to ask this question. 
What is the relationship between the git clone of Qt found at qt.gitorious.org/ and the official Qt releases? Can this clone be considered a beta of the next Qt release? How do codes written by Qt Software's employees make their way to this clone?
