[Qt-interest] qmake and successor?

I'm not sure that this is the right forum for this, but I'm not quite
sure how else to go about it...

I had heard some rumours at DevDays that there is a project to rework
qmake and/or deprecate it in favour of something new. Can any of the
Trolls comment on this? Last time I knew, Marius Storm-Olsen was
maintaining qmake, and given that I seem to have been one of Trolltech's
"problem children" in the past with respect to qmake, and given that
I've ended up working on the build system for several projects in the
past, I'd be very interested in working with the Trolls on whatever is
slated to replace it.

Well before DevDays, I'd actually started on the early stages of design
for a Qt-based modular build system, in order to address the
shortcomings that I've encountered with the build tools I've used (and
several others that I've looked at in an attempt to find a good
alternative). I think I've got some concepts in there for things that I
think build tools should be able to do that nothing has really attempted
to address so far, in an attempt at a "model after the best" design.
(For what it's worth, there are a couple or three points on which I hold
qmake as the best example, despite its shortcomings in other areas!)

So, I'd like to talk to whoever the relevant person is in order to see
if these efforts are compatible. Any thoughts?
