[Qt-interest] "phonon backend plugin could not be loaded"

I get an error like this whenever I run any Qt-based apps using a version of
Qt that is not the one installed by my system (which happens to be debian
squeeze rather than ubuntu). So for example, if I install Qt SDK from Qt 4.6
on my qt 4.5 based system, any time I run a program from there, I get that
dialog on startup.
I think it is for any program that is linked with Phonon, and further, that
sound does work after I close the dialog.
I think it is a bug in ubuntu/debian's sound system, but I am not sure.
