I get the following from pkg-config:

stephen at epsilon $ pkg-config --cflags gstreamer-0.10
-pthread -I/usr/include/gstreamer-0.10 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
-I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/libxml2

and the layout for glib2 and libxml2 seems to be like this:

stephen at epsilon $ ls /usr/include/glib-2.0/
gio/  glib/  glib.h  glib-object.h  gmodule.h  gobject/
stephen at epsilon $ ls /usr/include/libxml2
libxml/
