$ git branch -r --contains 4b618e48c909fcc5665e9d60645023c48b2ffb43
  origin/HEAD -> origin/master
  origin/master

The master branch is currently 4.8. It will become 4.9 when the feature freeze 
for 4.8 comes and it branches off.

The staging _repositories_ are duplicates of the normal branches, containing 
changes that haven't passed through the quality gates yet. So the staging area 
contains both master (4.8) and 4.7.
