[Qt-interest] Qt 4.8 - Desktop Multimedia support?

Hello all,

I didn't see Multimedia support mentioned in the Qt 4.8 roadmaps recently posted.  I have "heard it said" that the new Multimedia support would be in Qt 4.8, but I cannot find anything on the Qt website to substantiate that.

The only information I can find about Multimedia roadmaps on the Qt site are quite old, such as

That document mentions Mobile Multimedia solutions moving to Qt Solutions and Qt Quick.  But what is the plan for Desktop Qt?  Is Phonon going to stay the only solution after all?  The relationship to Mobility vs. Desktop is very confusing trying to follow the threads of comments and documentation.  Can anyone clarify the current state of things and future plans for Phonon and Qt Multimedia for Desktop?
