IIRC, Phonon will be returned to KDE for maintainership and development 
(just like it currently is outside of Qt).

It will be still actively invested in by the KDE community. The 5 version 
of it is currently in the planning stage (again, from what I've heard in 
the last week - I'm not in kdemultimedia project) so you should join the 
discussion of what you'd like to se in the next-generation of phonon.
