[17:10:50] <jaheikki3> Any comments/questions?
[17:12:24] <jaheikki3> Then Qt 5.4.2 status
[17:13:16] <jaheikki3> All known blockers should be fixed now, last one https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-46174
[17:14:54] <thiago> great
[17:14:55] <jaheikki3> some issue with with PNG handling noticed after updating libpng. anshaw is studying the issue
[17:15:15] <jaheikki3> let's see if that needs to be fixed or not, hoping not...
[17:15:43] <jaheikki3> packaging is ongoing & we should have Qt 5.4.2 packages for testing tomorrow morning
[17:16:35] <jaheikki3> Those will be final ones if no brown paper bag issues found during testing & if png issue isn't critical enough
[17:18:48] <jaheikki3> We were targetting to release during this week but because getting packages is delayed we most probably cannot do the release during this week.
[17:20:04] <jaheikki3> So most probably we will release Qt5.4.2 at the beginning of next week
[17:20:27] <jaheikki3> Comments/questions?
[17:23:00] <jaheikki3> Ok, then Qt 4.8.7 status:
[17:23:29] <jaheikki3> We have some challenges on commercial online installer & Qt 4.8.7 installation on Mac OS X
[17:23:40] <jaheikki3> Also VS2013 convenience installer requires some work still
[17:23:49] -*- thiago remembers how hard it was to make Qt 3 packages after we were doing Qt 4
[17:23:59] <thiago> no one remembered how, the scripts were gone, etc.
[17:24:31] <jaheikki3> Those items are delaying the release but trying to have both of those done as soon as possible
[17:26:36] <jaheikki3> This thursday is earliest possible day but most probably it will be during next week as well
[17:26:56] <jaheikki3> Any comments/questions?
[17:27:52] <thiago> two releases in a week?
[17:28:05] <fkleint> yay ;-)
[17:28:10] <fkleint> 2x release cake...
[17:28:14] <jaheikki3> ;)
[17:28:33] <jaheikki3> Maybe, I would say let's hope so...
[17:30:42] <jaheikki3> Ok, I think it was all at this time. Ok to have new meeting next Tue at this same time? Hoping we have released Qt 5.4.2 or 4.8.7 before that...
[17:31:07] <fkleint> +1
[17:33:23] <jaheikki3> Great. Lets end this meeting now. Thanks & bye!
[17:34:12] <fkleint> bye
[17:34:45] <The-Compiler> jaheikki3: I'm curious - what do you mean with "brown paper bag issues"? I don't find anything when searching for that term, is this something imported from Finnish? ;)
[17:34:59] <thiago> from a Finnish developer by the name Linus Torvalds
[17:35:29] <thiago> it means that the release has bugs so obvious or so serious that the release is embarrassing and you have to put a brown paper bag over your head so you're not recognised
[17:35:43] <fkleint> Did Linus ever do that?
[17:35:49] <thiago> http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/B/brown-paper-bag-bug.html
[17:36:08] <thiago> http://lwn.net/1999/0204/kernel.php3
[17:36:26] <fkleint> Aha ;-)
[17:36:35] <The-Compiler> haha, thanks :)
[17:36:36] <thiago> https://lkml.org/lkml/1999/1/28/135
[17:38:33] <thiago> we've talked about "brown paper bag" inside the release team for at least 8 years, when I was release manager
