irc log below:
[16:59:56] <jaheikki3> akseli: iieklund: thiago: fkleint: ZapB: tronical: vladimirM: aholza: peter-h: mapaaso: ankokko: fkleint: carewolf: fregl: ablasche: ping
[17:00:05] <fregl> hello :)
[17:00:08] <thiago> jaheikki3: pong
[17:00:55] <fkleint> jaheikki3: pong
[17:01:43] <jaheikki3> Time to start qt release team meeting
[17:01:46] <akseli> jaheikki3: pong
[17:01:52] <jaheikki3> On agenda today:
[17:02:05] <jaheikki3> - qt 5.8.0 alpha status
[17:02:12] <jaheikki3> - qt 5.6.2 status
[17:02:19] <jaheikki3> -qt 5.7.1 status
[17:02:29] <jaheikki3> Any additional item to the agenda?
[17:02:43] <lqi> will be back in 15-20 mins, picking up kids. but like to see https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/168824/ in 5.6.2
[17:04:13] <jaheikki3> Lets start from 5.8 alpha status
[17:04:30] <jaheikki3> Branching is now complete and FF is in effect
[17:04:49] <jaheikki3> berore alpha we need to get qt5.git integrated in '5.8'
[17:05:12] <jaheikki3> Currently it seems qtspeech has some license header missing
[17:05:32] <fregl> jaheikki3: is there a bug for that? I wasn't aware of that
[17:05:49] <jaheikki3> No, I just noticed that
[17:06:05] <jaheikki3> see https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/168795/
[17:06:23] <fregl> I just saw that qtspeech is not built on macOS either - kind of problematic
[17:06:45] <fregl> weird about the license test - that was fixed
[17:07:38] <jaheikki3> fregl: ok, but qtspeech is TP and so on that shouldn't matter at this point. Of course should be fixed but shouldn't block the alpha
[17:08:08] <fregl> I'll check what the problem is - probably needs a patch from the dev branch in 5.8
[17:08:19] <jaheikki3> fregl: ok, thanks!
[17:09:01] <jaheikki3> And when we get qt5.git integrated in '5.8' we will export alpha candidate src packages for testing
[17:09:12] <fkleint> lars: Is the build sys now FF-ready? ..there is also stuff like https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-55455 ..
[17:09:50] <jaheikki3> And if packages seems to be ok for alpha we are targeting to release it during next week
[17:11:17] <jaheikki3> fkleint: lars: according to my understanding needed build system changes should be in. lars, correct if I have understood wrongly
[17:11:28] <jaheikki3> Any other comments or questions?
[17:13:38] <jaheikki3> Ok, thats all about 5.8 alpha at this time. Let's get qt5.git integrates as soon as possible to get alpha out as planned
[17:13:48] <jaheikki3> then Qt 5.6.2 status:
[17:14:08] <jaheikki3> first snapshot under testing at the moment
[17:14:36] <jaheikki3> Some feedback already got but more needed
[17:15:14] -*- thiago has an important QtDBus crash to solve
[17:15:21] <jaheikki3> Packages seems to be quite good but there is some blockers left to be fixed before we can release
[17:15:28] <thiago> I've solved it, but can't integrate because it causes a different regression
[17:15:43] <jaheikki3> thiago: is there a bug report about that?
[17:16:41] <jaheikki3> current blocker list here: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-55367?filter=17829
[17:16:55] <jaheikki3> please make sure all blockers are visible in that list
[17:17:13] <thiago> yes, several
[17:17:17] <thiago> not sure I should call it a blocker
[17:17:29] <thiago> it's a crash-at-exit
[17:17:46] <thiago> and I haven't been able to fix the other regression in two months
[17:19:01] <jaheikki3> ok
[17:19:32] <thiago> I'm just mentioning if someone later complains that we released without fixing it
[17:20:29] <jaheikki3> For me it seems we could start branching '5.6.2' from '5.6' and fix remaining blockers in the release branch. That way we could get 5.6.2 out quite soon. Any objections?
[17:20:49] <thiago> none from me
[17:23:06] <jaheikki3> ok, lets start branching soon. I'll discuss tomorrow with ossi|tt...
[17:23:24] <jaheikki3> That was all about 5.6.2 at this time. Then Qt 5.7.1:
[17:23:47] <jaheikki3> qt5.git integration succeed last week
[17:24:16] <jaheikki3> but we haven't created snapshot from that
[17:24:34] <jaheikki3> we prioritize 5.6.2 & 5.8.0
[17:24:53] <thiago> 5.6.2 should come before 5.7.1
[17:25:15] <thiago> preferably, all fixes in 5.6.2 should be up-merged into 5.7 before the branching
[17:25:19] <thiago> so, yes, postpone
[17:25:36] <jaheikki3> Yeah, that's why we haven't kept so much hurry with it
[17:26:30] <jaheikki3> thiago: That makes sense. Let's agree we branch 5.7.1 from 5.7 after 5.6.2 changes are in '5.7'
[17:26:48] <jaheikki3> Makes merges etc easier
[17:27:23] <jaheikki3> But we are targeting to create 5.7.1 snapshot for testing soon to see where we are
[17:28:08] <thiago> that's good
[17:28:21] <jaheikki3> That's all about 5.7.1. Any other comments or questions?
[17:31:13] <jaheikki3> Ok, it was all at this time. Is there something else or should we just end this meeting now?
[17:32:20] <fkleint> not from me..
[17:32:42] <fregl> thanks, sounds good to me, I'm very happy about the order - 5.6 before the next 5.7 release :)
[17:32:51] <lqi> same here
[17:33:28] <jaheikki3> Great! Lets end now & have new meeting next tue as planned. Thanks for your participation!
[17:33:31] <jaheikki3> Bye
[17:33:35] <fkleint> Bye
