Meeting minutes from Qt Release Team meeting 7th May 2019

Qt 5.13.0 status:
- Beta4 content isn't in place yet:
   * updating openSSL 1.1* still ongoing
** COIN should support this now & we just need to get needed provisioning changes in + finalize packaging configurations (openSSL 1.1* needs to be bundled in qt installers)
   * There is also new compilation issue with latest changes in '5.13'/5'5.13.0'
      ** QTBUG-75646
- Branching from '5.13' ->'5.13.0' ready
- Initial changes files created, see https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/q/message:%22Add+changes+file+for+Qt+5.13.0%22,n,z
- 6 Issues open in blocker list, see https://bugreports.qt.io/issues/?filter=20625
   * 3 should be already fixed (when new packages available)
- It will be really hard to get beta4 out during this week. We will try but let's see after we can get openSSL update done & device creation compile issue fixed

Qt 5.14 initial schedule:
- Proposal sent to ml last week (https://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/releasing/2019-May/002642.html), no objections

[17:00:57] <akseli> jaheikki3: pong
[17:01:12] <frkleint> jaheikki3: pong
[17:01:50] <jaheikki3> Time to start qt release team meeting
[17:01:55] <jaheikki3> On agenda today:
[17:01:59] <jaheikki3> Qt 5.13.0 status
[17:02:11] <jaheikki3> Qt 5.14.0 initial schedule
[17:02:20] <jaheikki3> Any additional item to the agenda?
[17:03:07] <frkleint> 5.12.4? .. just a rough timeline
[17:03:33] <jaheikki3> frkleint: yeah, lets agree that as well
[17:03:52] <jaheikki3> But let's start from 5.13.0 status
[17:04:20] <jaheikki3> Unfortunately no beta4 content in place yet
[17:04:30] <jaheikki3> updating openSSL 1.1* still ongoing
[17:04:51] <jaheikki3> COIN should support this now & we just need to get needed provisioning changes in + finalize packaging configurations (openSSL 1.1* needs to be bundled in qt installers)
[17:05:36] <jaheikki3> There is also ne compilation issue with latest changes in '5.13'/5'5.13.0', see QTBUG-75646
[17:05:36] <qt_gerrit> jaheikki3: Yocto / Boot2Qt build fails for 5.13.0 Beta4 branch - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-75646 (Reported)
[17:06:03] <jaheikki3> So let's see if we can get beta4 out during this week or not
[17:07:06] <jaheikki3> Branching from '5.13' ->'5.13.0' finalized today, info to MLs will be sent soon
[17:07:24] <jaheikki3> Initial changes files created, see https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/q/message:%22Add+changes+file+for+Qt+5.13.0%22,n,z
[17:07:55] <jaheikki3> 6 Issues open in blocker list, see https://bugreports.qt.io/issues/?filter=20625
[17:08:03] <jaheikki3> 3 should be already fixed (when new packages available)
[17:08:29] <jaheikki3> That's all about 5.13.0 status at this time
[17:08:53] <jaheikki3> Any comments or questions?
[17:10:32] <jaheikki3> Ok, then Qt 5.14.0 initial schedule
[17:10:53] <jaheikki3> Proposal sent to ml last week (https://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/releasing/2019-May/002642.html), no objections
[17:11:17] <jaheikki3> so Qt 5.14 initial schedule is:
[17:11:29] <jaheikki3> 19.08.2019: Soft branching from 'dev' to '5.14'
[17:11:38] <jaheikki3> 26.08.2019: Feature Freeze & Finalize branching from 'dev' to '5.14'
[17:11:44] <jaheikki3> 03.09.2019: Alpha release
[17:11:49] <jaheikki3> 17.09.2019: Beta1 release
[17:12:00] <jaheikki3> 12.11.2019: RC1
[17:12:07] <jaheikki3> 26.11.2019: Qt 5.14.0 Final Release
[17:12:21] <jaheikki3> Any comments or questions?
[17:14:35] <jaheikki3> Ok, lets try to do Qt 5.14.0 with plan above & adjust it if needed
[17:14:46] <jaheikki3> Then Qt 5.12.4 timeline:
[17:15:31] <jaheikki3> Qt 5.12.3 was released 17.4 so I think we could start release preparations quite soon.
[17:16:39] <jaheikki3> So let's start branbching from 5.12 to 5.12.4 mon 20th May. That way we could get the release out well before mid summer fest
[17:16:46] <frkleint> yup
[17:17:52] <jaheikki3> So release target could be 11.6 2019
[17:17:55] <The-Compiler> note that May 20th is the Gerrit upgrade ;)
[17:18:18] <The-Compiler> https://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/development/2019-May/035775.html
[17:18:56] <jaheikki3> The-Compiler: that's true. Maybe better to plan 21 for soft branching then
[17:19:52] <jaheikki3> Any other comments or questions?
[17:21:10] <jaheikki3> Ok, this was all at this time. Let's end this meeting now & have new one Tue 14th May as planned
[17:21:23] <jaheikki3> Thanks for your participation, bye!
[17:21:30] <frkleint> bye
