To cite qt-project.org/wiki/Qt-Version-Compatibility (the closest I could find):

'Qt Add On modules specify their compatibility promise separately.'

So it's up to you whether you prefer breaking the ABI in e.g. 5.2.0, or stick to it. Both are fine as long as you properly communicate it.
