Another potential reason why some sort of unembedding might be interesting:

I read somewhere that one of the goals of that project is to become a drop-in
replacement for Chromium. If the current benchmarking results (*) are any
indication, this new framework could be a lot faster and less resource hungry
than Chromium.
*) It's used in Firefox Quantum, which scored about 1.5 higher on the now
offlined Peacekeeper HTML5 benchmark than Chromium (incl. QtWebEngine), on Mac,
Linux and MS Windows. FWIW, QtWebKit rebooted was only about 1.25x faster than
Chromium.
